Lakechia Jeanne is a Biomedical Scientist who specialises in science communication and Public Health, she is also the founder and editor at GirlsInScience.co.uk. She has studied in Aarhus, Denmark, Hull and York and her research has included diabetes- related health inequalities within the Humberside Northern region and Mental Health Policy Stratgies within SMHI's in Yorkshire. Her background also includes film and television and over the past 13 years she has worked on and interned with the BBC and BBC Radio, ITV, Look North, CBBC, Granda TV and man other media orientied companies on production like: Doctor Who, The Bill, Prime Suspect, The Archers, and Blue Peter. As a recent post-graduate she now works in the Local Government as part of the National Graduate Development Programme within Policy and Performance.

Girls In Science, founded by Lakechia, is a social initiative that aims to expand career horizons for girls interested in the firle of science and STEM related industries. Her Team run content and promote opportunities to females through self-development pieces and video interviews to give girls an accurate perpsective of science within the working-world present and up-coming industries.
